WATERPROOFING APPLICATION
GRANDPRUF TA MEMBRANE
Torch Applied Waterproofing Membrane
SCOPE
This section covers the standard requirements for waterproofing application using GRANPRUF TA Membrane ( Torch Applied Membrane Waterproofing ).
1. Surface Preparation Works
1.1 Cement laitance, dust, dirt, oil, grease and other foreign matters must be removed from concrete surfaces by chipping, wire brushing, pressure washing, grinding, scabbling or by other means.
1.2 Remove existing waterproofing materials and its primer, if any.

2. Tools and Equipment
The tools and equipment required to apply GRANDPRUF TA MEMBRANE includes:
2.1 Propane gas torch with related gas cylinder.
2.1 Propane gas torch with related gas cylinder.
2.2 Knife for cutting the membrane to size and trowel with a round tip.
2.3 Protective gloves and goggles are necessary when using the gas torch.
3. Application
3.1 The application of GRANDPRUF TA MEMBRANE is easy and quick.
3.2 Porous substrate should be coated with GRANDPRUF TA PRIMER at an application rate of 3-5 m2/liter or according to the porosity of the substrate.
3.3 The GRANDPRUF TA PRIMER should be allowed to dry for about 8 hours.

3.3 The GRANDPRUF TA PRIMER should be allowed to dry for about 8 hours.
3.4 The membrane is then unrolled and placed in the correct position where it is to be torched later.
3.5 During each stage, each roll must overlap the next layer at least 10mm.
3.6 The membrane is then re-rolled again without changing the given orientation.
3.7 Then it is slowly unrolled again and its surface lightly heated, transversely, by means of propane gas torch, thus causing surface melting and subsequent adhesion to the surface.

3.7 Then it is slowly unrolled again and its surface lightly heated, transversely, by means of propane gas torch, thus causing surface melting and subsequent adhesion to the surface.
3.8 End joints should be made with a minimum of 15cm overlap.
4. Leak Test or Ponding Test
4.1 Ponding or leak test can commence the following day when the total area to be waterproofed is 100% completed.
GRANDPRUF FLEX 72
High Technology Elastomeric Cementitious Waterproofing Membrane
SCOPE
This section covers the standard requirements for Waterproofing application using GRANDPRUF FLEX 72 (High Technology Elastomeric Cementitious Waterproofing Membrane).
1.3 All structural defects such as cracks, faulty construction joints, holes, honeycombs or any part of concrete surfaces with water seepage or leak should be treated properly, either by epoxy injection or any repair mortar. It is recommended that a cement and sand fillet be formed at all corners to receive the waterproofing membrane.
1.4 Any part of concrete surfaces with water seepage or leakage area should be routed out to sound concrete and repaired with GRANDPLUG 1(rapid setting mortar for plugging leak on running water).
1.5 All structural defects such as cracks, faulty construction joints, holes, honeycombs should be pre-treated and reinforced with GRAND ACES Repair System (for more details, please refer to our Technical Department) prior to commencing of waterproofing works.
2. Mixing
2.1 Pour Part A (liquid part) into a clean container.
2.2 Slowly add Part B (powder part) into the container and mix with a slow speed mechanical mixers until homogenous and lumps free.
2.3 Allow to stand for five (5) minutes and re-stir manually before use.
2.2 Slowly add Part B (powder part) into the container and mix with a slow speed mechanical mixers until homogenous and lumps free.
2.3 Allow to stand for five (5) minutes and re-stir manually before use.
3. Application
3.1 Dampen the surface before coating with GRANDPRUF FLEX 72.
3.2 Apply the waterproofing materials using roller, brush or spray gun. Care must be taken to ensure that air is not entrapped in the membrane.
3.2 Apply the waterproofing materials using roller, brush or spray gun. Care must be taken to ensure that air is not entrapped in the membrane.
3.3 Apply the 1st coat of GRANDPRUF FLEX 72 and work generously to fill all the pores, rough surfaces, joints and routed areas.
3.4 Allow the membrane to dry approximately 2 to 3 hours prior to the application of the 2nd coat. The 2nd coat must be applied crosswise.
3.5 Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, arrange temporary shading as necessary.
3.6 Ensure sufficient material and labor available for a continuous process of application.
3.7 Apply GRANDPRUF FLEX 72 at a rate of 1.0 to 1.2 kg/m2 per coat.
3.8 Freshly applied GRANDPRUF FLEX 72 treatment must be protected from extreme weather conditions such as rain or high temperatures.
4. Leak Test or Ponding Test
4.1 Allow a minimum curing time interval of 15 to 72 hours before commencing ponding test.
4.2 Should ponding test exceed 4 hours, a minimum curing time interval of 72 hours is recommended.
4.3 Laying of screed shall follow after ponding or leak test is completed.
4.4 When laying screed, care must be taken to ensure that the applied membrane will not be damaged.
